Men With Expensive Cars Attract More Women

No offense to any of the car salesmen out there, but let’s admit it: about 90% of the population finds these peeps to be very convincing (aka manipulating). It makes sense-their job is to sell a product and do almost whatever it takes to sell.

Let’s shed some light and share that psychologists have proven that automobile sales associates are right about one thing: driving that nice car will help land you the ladies.

men in nice carsPersonal Deets: I purchased my first car when I was 17 (it was only $1,500 so it wasn’t THAT big of an accomplishment). At my irrational and I-wanna-be-cool-and-hip stage at 19, I decided to upgrade. My very generous Uncle proposed the idea of lending me $13,500 to purchase a car, as long as I made monthly payments to him. When I informed my Father of this plan, he made a hilarious statement: “Christina, you’re a girl. You don’t need a nice car. It’s the men that need them to woo over you females.”

Researchers have proven that women are highly attracted to men who drive expensive cars. It’s not the car itself but rather, the representation it brings. A “wow” car is associated with words such as security, stability and wealth. The men behind those wheels tend to have a great deal of wealth, power and social ranking.

A university team showed women, aged 21 to 40, two distinct pictures: one of a man in a high end silver Bentley and another in an old Ford Fiesta. All of the women picked the man in the Bentley. Dr Michael Dunn, of the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff, said that when men were tested in the same experiment, they could care less what car the woman drove, as long as she had a nice face and figure.

Back to pseudo-evolutionary psychology, men provided security and protection to women and their offspring. They did this in the form of food and clothing. Now, in present day, men provide security through wealth and social ranking. It’s the exact same mentality-just different plumbing.

Men who are wealthy tend to be very driven, intelligent and confident. A writer on psychologyofdating.net writes: “This is not to imply that a less wealthy man cannot have these traits because rich and powerful men usually don’t start rich and powerful. It is just that if you were to see two men walking down the street, one is wearing a McDonald’s uniform and the other an Armani suit. You would be more inclined to believe the man with the suit has those traits because you in a way can see it.” As shallow as that sounds, you can’t help but to admit that you will pick the man in the Armani suit instead, right? (Don’t lie).

Dr. Dunn holds a firm belief that although woman are becoming more career oriented and independent, their attraction to men will most likely not change. “What you find is that these new, wealthy women still show a preferment for high-status males” he says.

He also further on goes to say that his experiment proves that women are shallower than men. Would you agree? Let’s put down our I-wanna-sound-like-a-good-person facade and truly asks ourselves: if we were apart of that experiment, which picture would we have chosen?
